As users upgrade to Relativity 9.6, they will notice some important differences. While some eDiscovery professionals have already been using certain features in version 9.6, others may need to familiarize themselves with the changes in order to make the most of this powerful platform. Here are a few of the key changes that will have the biggest impact on attorneys reviewing documents and the eDiscovery professionals who manage them:

• New Search Interface. Relativity provides many options to build complex queries by selecting fields, operators, and values. For those who have yet to work within the new UI, this may be the biggest adjustment.

• Native Radio Button. Also starting with Relativity 9.6, the Native radio button will be disabled in the Viewer to enhance security within the platform. As a workaround, when the native radio button is disabled, users can click the file icon next to the document identifier in the viewer to download it. For HTML documents, the document will be opened in a new browser tab or downloaded locally.
• Proximity Searching Highlighting. One long-requested feature is now a reality in Relativity 9.6: Proximity Searching Highlighting that can take into account proximity-based terms. For example, if the user was searching for instances of “law” within three words of “order,” in the list of results the user would see the terms of “law” and “order” highlighted when they aren’t within three words of each other. This feature does not affect the accuracy of the search results. The search will still return the appropriate documents. However, to accommodate this behavior, users should focus only on the results that match the proximity search criteria and disregard the other highlighted terms.
  
• Document Intelligence. This feature alerts users to hidden content in documents and gives them the option to expose the material during review. For example, users can see hidden rows, columns, sheets, and formulas in Excel; hidden content in Word; comments and slide notes in PowerPoint; tracked changes in Word and Excel; and comments in PDFs, Word, and Excel. This functionality helps ensure a faster and more accurate review process.
