The Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) released on July 13, 2023 the first resource produced by their project, Short Message Metadata Primer 1.0, an infographic detailing the metadata properties for the most popular metadata applications. Mark Anderson, CDS’ Director of Operations, UK and Lead Developer of CDS Convert, was a member of the project team, along with more than 20 eDiscovery professionals representing law firms and companies such as Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Relativity, Ropes & Gray LLP, Sidley Austin LLP.
The primer is intended to serve as a reference model to promote clarity and uniformity as it relates to the requests for text and instant messages and productions of these data types. A “work-in-progress,” the project team foresees the need to update the publication periodically to account for the fluidity of the text and instant messaging market, and in response to industry feedback.
