At CDS, we let the work speak for itself. But behind every result is a team member who made it happen. Real People, Real Results is a monthly series that takes a closer look at the individuals who make up our team, exploring their backgrounds, their expertise, and what drives them.
This month, meet Adam Rogers, our Digital Forensics Manager at CDS.
Adam is a certified digital forensics and eDiscovery professional who brings technical precision and deep investigative expertise to some of the most sensitive and high-stakes matters CDS handles. As the leader of the Digital Forensics Services Group, he oversees complex data collections, advanced forensic examinations across computers and mobile devices, and the technical training that keeps the CDS team sharp on the latest forensic hardware and software platforms.
His work spans a wide range of data sources such as workstations, servers, removable media, cloud repositories, and mobile devices, with a consistent emphasis on defensibility, chain of custody, and documentation that holds up under scrutiny. Whether the matter involves intellectual property theft, employee misconduct, breach of contract, or internal corporate investigations, Adam brings the same disciplined approach: customized workflows, rigorous validation, and results that are built for legal review, expert testimony, and regulatory oversight.
What sets Adam apart is his ability to operate at the intersection of technical complexity and legal strategy, translating sophisticated forensic findings into clear, reliable work product that attorneys and clients can actually use.
What drew you to digital forensics, and was there a moment when you knew this was the field for you?
I was first drawn to digital forensics in college after taking an introductory computer forensics course. What immediately resonated with me was the investigative mindset and the process of uncovering the truth through data. That interest continued while I was working at a large pharmaceutical company, supporting data collections for acquisitions and divestitures. During that time, I was involved in several major projects that required extensive travel across the country, collecting data from hundreds of sources. That experience reinforced my passion for the field, and those same dynamics – the complexity, the investigation, and the constant problem‑solving – continue to motivate me today.
How do you stay current in a field where both the technology and the legal standards are constantly evolving?
This is one of the most challenging aspects of our industry: the constantly evolving landscape. Just when a workflow feels solid, an update or new release can disrupt or redefine it entirely. While reading, research, and testing are essential, my favorite learning moments come from clients bringing us complex, real‑time challenges. These projects keep us on our toes, continuously testing our knowledge and pushing us to adapt, explore new approaches, and innovate faster. It’s in these moments that we grow the most and deliver the greatest value.
What’s a project or win at CDS that you’re especially proud of?
There are many projects and client success stories that I’m proud of, but the one that comes to mind was a recent international collection effort. The engagement involved high‑profile custodians who were traveling globally and difficult to pin down. To meet a tight deadline, CDS deployed forensic consultants on short notice to Italy, Scotland, Monaco, and Costa Rica to perform full file system extractions on the target mobile devices. The project was a true team effort, combining speed, expertise, and adaptability. Not only did the team see a bit of the world, but more importantly, we successfully delivered the data to meet the client’s deadline.
If you could relive one moment from your life, what would it be?
My first hole-in-one on Father’s Day, 2014, while playing a round of golf with my dad and uncle. It was an unforgettable day made more meaningful by sharing it with them. It’s a memory I’ll always treasure.
What’s something you make time for no matter how busy things get?
Pausing and taking a deep breath. Work and life have a way of becoming overwhelming: rushing from one meeting to the next, jumping between calls, managing last-minute travel, racing to meet deadlines. It’s easy to stay in constant motion without realizing how much it takes out of you. Making time to stop, take a full, intentional breath, and let it out with a sigh can be grounding. Taking a few deep breaths in a row is even better! In those moments, the noise quiets, perspective returns, and I feel more present and centered, ready to take on whatever comes next.
Where do you see the biggest opportunities in digital forensics over the next few years?
It seems like there are a lot! AI-powered investigations, evolving cyber threats, and the rapid growth of IoT devices, the list continues to expand. At the core of our approach, there is a strong focus on our clients. Understanding their pain points and what they’re experiencing in real time. While testing, research, and future planning are essential, real-world scenarios present unique challenges. Clients need trusted experts who can engage in candid conversations and deliver solutions that are timely, accurate, and secure. That’s the standard we strive to uphold.
We’re glad you took the time to meet Adam Rogers! Look out next month as we highlight more of the real people driving real results at CDS. To learn more about CDS, reach out to us at .
