CDS’s eDiscovery solutions have been nominated in five separate categories of the 2025 Relativity Innovation Awards. The Relativity Innovation Awards celebrate the innovative applications, workflows, and customizations Relativity users develop to manage new and diverse data types, disciplines, and matters.
In this series, we will provide an overview of each solution, highlighting the software’s key features and the problems it addresses. This post focuses on CDS Vision DSARs. Vision DSARs was nominated in the Act category, which “honors solutions that enhance Relativity’s redaction, quality control, reporting, case strategy, or production features—delivering meaningful results.”
The Challenge: Handling Burdensome Data Requests Efficiently
A data subject access request grants EU and UK citizens the right to access the personal data that any organization holds on them. An individual can make a data subject access request to any organization globally, including the individual’s employer, ex-employer, or a corporation such as a bank, retailer, airline, or any other organization that handles their data. Individuals can exercise the right to access their data easily and at reasonable intervals to verify the lawfulness of the processing.
If organizations fail to comply with data access requests, they can face fines of £17.5 million or 4% of global revenue. The risks of non-compliance are high, made more challenging by having to comply in short timelines of one month from the date a request is made, or three months if the request is considered complex and burdensome. Other users’ data and any confidential information must also be protected, and failure to protect individuals’ data from export can result in a data breach and further fines.
The Solution: CDS Vision DSARs
Handling numerous DSAR requests can be burdensome and expensive. The end goal is to provide the requester with a copy of their data in a readily accessible format. While CDS aims to reduce the cost of technology as much as possible for these organizations, the costliest part of the process is the review of the data, whether that is via internal teams or outsourced review. As such, CDS has developed workflows leveraging RelativityOne technologies and generative AI solutions to reduce data volumes, decrease time and cost, and minimize human review. Key points:
- CDS Vision DSARs is a workflow for data subject access requests that utilizes Relativity technology and generative AI solutions to reduce data volumes, time, and cost, and minimize human review.
- The AI-powered workflow includes data normalization, deduplication, culling using analytics, and leveraging Relativity aiR for document review, which can reduce review time from a week to 15 minutes.
- AI-powered redaction tools can further reduce the time and cost of the redaction process.
- Vision DSARs can lower the cost of outsourced review by around 80% and shrink timeframes from two weeks to two days.
The Takeaway: Handling DSAR Requests Quickly and Easily
At CDS, we have built AI-empowered workflows to assist our clients in handling DSAR requests quickly and cost-effectively. These solutions allow our clients, especially those providing key services, to maximize their budget, reduce risk, and meet data protection obligations.
